Friday night will be the end of one journey and the start of another for some 60 DeSoto High School graduating seniors in exercises that will be held at the DeSoto Athletic Field, starting at 8:00.
Seniors Receive Diplomas Here Friday Night
The Class Theme – “No Man IS an Island” – will be developed by five of the graduating seniors in talks. The seniors and their subjects are:
Dale Melton –“Man and God.”
Tommy Mercer – “Man and Government.”
Mardell Jordan – “Man and Mind.”
Vivian Clemons – “Man and Work.”
The Friday night graduation exercises will open with the usual Processional –“Pomp and Circumstances.” Following this number, Aralou Turner will speak the Invocation.
Buddy Yarbrough will deliver the address of welcome. Buddy, one of the school’s top athletes, is also the Class President.
After the talks by the seniors, Prof. J. C. Luther, school principal, will deliver the Charge to the Seniors.
George Boring, chairman of the school board, Mr. Luther, and C. O. Weaver, county school superintendent, will deliver the diplomas to the graduates.
The Glee Club under the direction Miss Leona Moreland, will present a musical number before Jim Alsobrook takes over to deliver the Benediction, which will close the exercises for the evening.
The graduates will retire while Albert Ralls, pianist, plays he Recessional
